Present music education programs that provide an opportunity for pre-professional study and foster life-long interest and appreciation of the arts, for students, parents and the community.

 

Provide a regular program of professional quality concerts and performances to showcase students' abilities to facilitate community involvement.

 

Make music education programs and cultural events widely accessible through interaction with schools and other community arts organizations.

 

Provide a safe environment that promotes artistic development at the highest level, build self-esteem, and inspire teamwork.

 

In September 2004 Songs of Solomon Academy for the Arts contracted with the New York City's Department of Education's Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS), a specialized school for arts, to provide students grades 9 through 12 with a rigorous, integrated music education. Students attend weekly classes which include:

• Repertoire Preparation of art songs in all languages

• Music Theory Levels I, II, III and IV

• Movement and Choreography

• Solo Juries for evaluation at the end of each school year
